Lauki Toast

INGREDIENTS
Gram flour - 150 grams

Semolina - 50 grams

Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon

Red chili - 3/4 teaspoon

Carom seeds - 1/2 teaspoon

Green chili - 1 tablespoon

Ginger garlic paste - 1 teaspoon

Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon

Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Salt - 1 teaspoon

Water - 250 milliliters

Grated bottle gourd - 500 grams

Oil - 1 tablespoon

Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon

Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon

Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon

Oil - for shallow frying

 

PREPARATION

  1. In a mixing bowl, add 150 grams gram flour, 50 grams semolina, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 3/4 teaspoon red chili, 1/2 teaspoon carom seeds, 1 tablespoon green chili, 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon salt, 250 milliliters water and mix it well to make a thick batter.
  2. Add 500 grams grated bottle gourd and mix it well. Keep aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan, add 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds and stir for 1 - 2 minutes.
  4. Then, add the prepared batter and mix it well.
  5. Cook for 8 - 10 minutes on medium heat.
  6. Remove it from heat.
  7. Take a greased dish and place a butter paper on it.
  8. Transfer the prepared mixture on it and spread it evenly.
  9. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  10. Demould it from dish and cut it into pieces.
  11. Heat some oil in a pan, add the prepared pieces on it.
  12. Cook until it turns golden brown in color from all sides.
  13. Remove it from heat.
  14. Serve hot.
